Privacy Policy

The American Society of Interior Designers ("ASID") understands and respects the importance and value of its members' privacy. This privacy policy explains how ASID collects, maintains, and uses the personal information of its members and how members can communicate their privacy and communication preferences to ASID.

Members' Personal Information:

We collect personal information from our members including, but not limited to, name, address, telephone number, and electronic mail address ("e-mail"). This information may, for example, be collected during the initial application process, renewal of membership process, when you register for an ASID event, or when you purchase an item from the ASID.

How The ASID Uses Your Personal Information:

ASID uses your personal information in order to communicate with you regarding your membership. For example, we convey to you via mail and e-mail information regarding changes in the terms of membership, general information regarding your membership, or to deliver benefits you are entitled to receive as a result of your membership. We may also send you newsletters, information on products or services that may be of interest to you, or information you request that we send you, such as information on upcoming conferences or educational events.

Membership Lists:

ASID rents membership lists on a one-time-use basis to third-party vendors whom ASID believes members would be interested in receiving information or products or services from. Revenue generated from the sale or rental of membership lists helps to support ASID operations. We never release personal information to vendors but rather use a list management company which sends the mailing or email on behalf of the vendor. We screen all third-party vendors. Consistent with out contracts with third-party vendors, we require the third-party vendors to protect your privacy and to not disclose members' personal information for any purpose other than providing members with information or products or services that we believe are of interest to members. ASID retains the right to deny access to the mailing list to any vendor or organization. As discussed below, any member may opt out of having his or her contact information included on member lists that are rented to third-party vendors, or specify the contact information provided to third-party vendors.

Chapter Reports:

Chapters receive weekly roster reports of members in their chapter. In addition to the roster report they receive a communications report of all members who have opted in to receive email and mail communication. They must use this report when contacting members or using third-party vendors. Note that this is not solely ASID policy but also federal law.
