Industry Partner Purpose and Mission Statement

The purpose of the ASID Industry Partners is to create an environment for mutual support among design practitioners and companies that supply products and services to those designers. To accomplish this purpose, Industry Partners' mission is to:

Provide business development opportunities for suppliers and design practitioners.
Provide educational opportunities.
Promote ethical business practices.

ASID Design Practitioners and Industry Partner Members share mutual concerns, common goals and financial independence. Together they work to improve products, services, business practices, design education and intercommunication. The Industry Partners provide a forum uniting interior designers and Industry Members in an ongoing discussion of issues and concerns that affect the interiors market. Created in 1975 by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) in recognition of the interdependence of the interiors industry and interior designers, the Industry Partners provide dynamic leadership opportunities for shaping the policies and standards of the design community. Through the Industry Partners, Member firms are provided several unique avenues to ensure that they are given a voice in ASID's decision-making structure. This forum for continuing interaction also elevates the concerns and interests of the industry while enhancing the individual designer's knowledge and use of resources.

In turn, design professionals are encouraged to share their product concerns and interests with manufacturer's, enabling Industry Partner Members to upgrade the quality and value of all interior furnishings. Even as the American Society of Interior Designers represents the full range of design practitioners— from owners of single-person firms to the veritable giants of the profession, the Industry Partner's Member firms mirror that spectrum, including small supply firms and showrooms as well as large industries. Encompassing the complete range of professionals and business in this market, the Industry Partners and ASID work together to enhance virtually every aspect of the interior environment.
